When I decided on this piece I had been thinking about Romance. And specifically about who was the most romantic man I can imagine. I have never fallen in love harder or faster than I did with Christian in Moulin Rouge (2001). My teenage self was unprepared. Some years later I married a boy whose favorite movie was Moulin Rouge and we danced to the Elephant Love Medley at our wedding.
This was not the first time I painted Ewan McGreggor, and it certainly wont be the last.

Little Oil Paintings is an ongoing collection of handmade original art works. Each 8x10 canvas board set in a very simple white mat and black frame. My intention with this collection is to allow myself to explore and experiment artistically while still staying true to a very simple presentation. Each piece is a visual riddle. Sometimes it was a challenge in light, or color, or emotion that made me ask myself “Can I pull this off?” Every painting in this collection represents a victorious “Yes”.
